Chair, Local Authority Governor
I am married, have two adult children and a grandson. My wife, Janet, is the principle at Gafham Grange School near Guildford and my daughter and son in law are both primary school teachers at primary schools in West Sussex.
I spent ten years in the Royal Engineers having joined at the age of 16 and then, on leaving the army, became a police officer. I retired from the police in 2017 in the rank of Detective Chief Inspector having spent the majority of my career in detective roles.
I have lived in Balcombe since 2015 and following retirement became a volunteer in school helping with reading, Forest School and class trips. I became an Associate Governor in 2018 and was Co-opted in 2019 when I also took on the role as Safeguarding lead.
My police career has allowed me to gain experience in managing people, budgets and projects and I hope that my skills and experience will be of value to the governing body and I will able to assist the school staff and children so the school continues to deliver excellent results and a rounded education.
