Julia Wilson

Foundation Governor - Curriculum & Ethos Committee

I have lived in the village for 35 years. I have four children who went to Balcombe school, and I now have 12 grandchildren in the South-East, all of whom are Primary or pre-school age.

I am a qualified teacher (adults) but have also taught French at a local private school before concentrating on coaching languages to children mostly.  I am a director of a UK law firm regulated by the SRA.

I am active in looking after my grandchildren, whether to enable their parents to go to work, or to help with two who are disabled.

As a member of St Mary’s church, I have been involved with our school in recent years, through the Pathfinders after school activity, the Open the Book assemblies and also with Prayer Spaces.  As a member of the Mothers Union, I also help with Play and Praise (for pre-school children), and host Mums to supper several times a year.  I am Safeguarding Officer for St Mary’s and I run a church group for residents of Avon House.

As a Governor, I hope that I’ll assist the excellent work that all the staff do at school in providing a safe and creative learning environment for all.
