Our Topics

Our curriculum is constantly reviewed and updated to meet the needs of our children. Learning activities are planned to ensure that children cover the age appropriate objectives outlined in the National Curriculum programmes of study – click here.

We plan a fluid curriculum to personalise learning for our children.  Although we have some topics that are repeated on a 4 year rolling programme, many of our topics change on an annual basis, to reflect key events, new initiatives or children’s interests. Topics such as the Victorians or the Ancient Greeks will definitely be covered by our children  during their Junior years as these topics are explicitly referred to in the National Curriculum programmes of study, but other topics such as The Olympics, Superheroes or Chocolate will be included to coincide with key events or in response to our pupils sharing their current interests.

Our planning overview ensures that all key objectives are covered by all children at least once (usually more) and any new topics are planned very carefully to ensure nothing is missed.

Each term parents receive a topic overview to inform them about the key areas of learning to be covered.
